The NYC Elementary School Athletic League (ESAL) is proud to announce our Get Out And Play Initiative (GO -AP). Get Out And Play was developed in partnership with the NYC Department of Education's Community School District Number 9. This pilot is intended to use the power of sports to positively engage lower elementary (grades 4-5) and upper elementary (grades 6-8) students. With the backing of the Jr. NBA, MLB Pitch Hit & Run, and the NFL Flag programs, respectively, the ESAL looks forward to working with a local professional basketball club, the New York Jets, and the New York Yankees organizations powering our league tournaments for our 2022-23 season and supporting our school participants. The ESAL's primary organizational mission is to prepare student athletes for the next level of their academic and athletic journeys, while helping the students to enhance their teambuilding capacity and sport related skill development. The ESAL's program will also help to drive good sportsmanship and an overall heightened positive school culture.
